Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps

The Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps’ (AFROTC) mission is to develop Air and Space Force leaders of character who we expect to fight and win our Nation’s wars.  AFROTC is a military training program designed to give well-qualified men and women the opportunity to train for leadership positions as officers in the Air Force while completing a college degree.

Students who join the Air Force ROTC Detachment 205 at SIU will have the opportunity to experience a normal college life while preparing for a future as an Air Force officer.

This year marks Detachment 205's 75th anniversary! The program has a long history of producing strong leaders with a history of excellence and a legacy of valor.

During SIU's Military Appreciation Week, November 11-14, there will be a slew of recognition events including sporting events throughout the week, a Veteran's Day Vigil, and culminating in the SIU football game versus South Dakota State featuring some truly memorable experiences. There are also additional events open to Detachment 205 alumni so please reach out!
